Things to look for in a student property in Coventry

When you’re viewing a student property, it’s important to consider a few things before you sign on the dotted line! Living in a student house can be the best time of your life but if you’re living with people who end up causing you stress, or going with a rogue landlord, it can break your time living at University.

Who do you trust?

Who would you really like to live with? Who could you see yourself getting on with and actually enjoy living with but would trust to keep your house in the best condition? You could have great friends that you want to live with but would they be easy to live with as you’ll be in each others space quite a lot. If you have a mate that you adore and get along with but you know that their habits would drive you nuts then maybe it’s a good idea to reconsider who you want to set up home with.

Property Type

Would you like to have outdoor space so you can relax in a garden and have BBQs? Or would you be happy enough to have an apartment? Would you like to live with a large group and want a big student house, or would you rather just live with a couple of close friends and have a cosy flat?

Location

Do you want to live somewhere close to University or would you rather live near local amenities such as supermarkets, restaurants and bars? Do you want to be in the heart of the city centre or in more of a suburb near parks and local pubs and live more like a local?

Landlords you can trust

When you’re looking for a student property, consider who the landlords are and if you can trust them. FutureLets work with a range of trusted landlords with who they have built relationships up.

Price

Consider your budget and what you really want to spend on your accommodation which will help you when you’re looking at suitable properties.

Viewing

Always view the property before making a decision. Check out the property in terms of space – are the living spaces big enough? Does it have all the main amenities you need? When you book a viewing, ask the letting agent as much as you can to make sure it’s the property for you.

Deposit

Do you need to pay a deposit or is there another way you can secure your booking as this could determine whether you want to go with that property? Ensure you know all of the costs upfront before you sign up including booking fees etc.
